High School Guidance Counselor
Position: High School Guidance Counselor
Reports to: High School Principal
Qualifications:
- Valid State Department of Education licensure/certificate
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Identify student needs and opportunities to enhance learning; recommend and implement targeted teaching techniques, interventions, and resources.
- Monitor student attendance, academic performance, and intervention efficacy; recommend modifications to improve outcomes.
- Intervene with students who are struggling academically; provide individual and group counseling.
- Investigate, document, and report student concerns and atypical behavior.
- Observe student demeanor and help students develop personal skills. (accountability, communication, responsible behavior, self-confidence)
- Facilitate student transitions, scheduling, and exploration of educational, vocational, and personal goals.
- Facilitate learning activities that build teamwork and positive peer relationships.
- Assist with program planning and contribute to development of strategies for at-risk students.
- Oversee differentiated referral and intervention system (IAT) and manage 504 plan development and implementation.
- Coordinate and facilitate services with area agencies.
- Oversee organization, security, and accommodations for testing programs.
- Support drug/harassment/violence prevention and school safety initiatives.
- Document observations of students in classroom and program settings and provide supervision as directed.
- Advocate for students and promote an inclusive educational environment that fosters creativity, cultural awareness, ethical conduct, and reflective problem-solving.
- Maintain high ethical standards, confidentiality, and a clear criminal record consistent with public school employment requirements.
- Demonstrate passion for and commitment to inspiring the students of Archbold Schools.
- Plan and oversee annual events. (Scholarships, Awards, Wellness)
Starting Date: August 2026
Pay Scale: Per Salary Schedule, Based on Experience and Degree (plus 10 extended days)
