About the Position
Sunnyside Preschool and Daycare is seeking a dedicated Infant Teacher to join our licensed early childhood program serving children ages 0–24 months. We follow all CDSS Community Care Licensing (Title 22) regulations and provide a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for infants. The ideal candidate is warm, attentive, and skilled in responsive caregiving.
Responsibilities
The Infant Teacher provides consistent supervision and maintains required teacher‑to‑child ratios at all times. Responsibilities include implementing safe sleep practices, proper diapering and sanitation procedures, and appropriate bottle‑feeding routines. The teacher ensures the classroom remains clean, organized, and compliant with licensing standards. Daily documentation of feeding, diapering, and sleep routines is required.
The teacher plans and facilitates developmentally appropriate activities that support sensory exploration, motor development, early communication, and social‑emotional growth. Observing and recording developmental milestones is an essential part of the role. The teacher communicates professionally with families, supports individualized care routines, and collaborates with co‑teachers to maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment. Participation in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development is expected.
Skills We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of infant development and responsive caregiving practices. The candidate should be able to create a calm and nurturing environment, communicate clearly with families and coworkers, and manage multiple infants’ needs with patience and consistency. Strong observation and documentation skills are important. The role requires comfort with lifting, floor play, and active caregiving.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have at least 12 ECE/CD units, including Child Growth and Development, Child, Family and Community, and Infant/Toddler Development. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and able to pass Livescan fingerprinting, a TB test, a health screening, and required immunizations (MMR, Tdap, and flu or flu waiver). Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is required or must be obtained before the start date. The position requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates have at least one year of experience working with infants in a licensed childcare setting.
