Technical Documentation Intern

  • JOB SUMMARY:

The Technical Documentation Intern works under the direction of a Technical Writer and supports the creation, updating, and maintenance of our manuals, job aids, and formal training documents for our secondary packaging equipment. Utilizing tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and other relevant software. The intern will assist technical writers by improving document clarity, formatting, and visual presentation, ensuring materials meet quality and consistency standards. In addition, the intern will contribute to small projects assigned by other technical writers, gaining hands-on experience while supporting documentation needs across the team.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:

  • Learn technical writing processes, tools, and industry standards
  • Update existing documentation (rough notes, engineering input, or legacy documents) to align with current formats so it can be used when updating Aftermarket Manuals
  • Walk through product workflows to ensure instructions are accurate.
  • Identify missing or unclear steps to improve user experience.
  • Help identify outdated or unclear documentation and suggest improvements
  • Follow style guides and help refine documentation standards.
  • Perform quality checks for grammar, formatting, and technical accuracy.
  • Assist with work overflow (assigned by other Tech Docs Personnel) 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong command of grammar, clarity, and concise writing.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in a simple, user-friendly way.
  • Experience writing essays, reports, documentation, or tutorials.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies, tools, or software quickly.
  • Basic understanding of how software, systems, or technical processes work (no need to be an engineer).
  • Curiosity about tech and willingness to explore products hands-on.
  • Ability to gather information by interviewing subject-matter experts.
  • Strong taking and research ability.
  • Comfort working with engineering, product, or support teams.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
