About Camden Hills Regional High School
Camden Hills Regional High School, a state-of-the-art energy efficient facility that includes a wind turbine and solar panels, serves 710 students in grades 9 – 12 from primarily six surrounding towns. The school offers an incredibly expansive array of educational experiences for students and is dedicated to hiring and retaining a high-quality, diverse staff.
Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and resilient Special Education Teacher at Camden Hills Regional High School to work with students with mental health, behavioral and social-emotional disabilities in our school-based Day Treatment Program, Rising Tide. A total of 2.5 Special Education Teachers, several Educational Technicians and a Clinician provide positive behavioral support for students in both special and regular education settings. Rising Tide is a therapeutic environment that prioritizes experiential education and outdoor activities while using a restorative approach to discipline and a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to student care. The teacher will be responsible for case-management, inclusion, consultation, and supervision of Educational Technicians. Experience working in Day Treatment and collaborating with outside agencies is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction in a resource room setting aligned with students’ IEP goals and grade-level standards
- Implement and monitor IEP accommodations
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff to ensure continuity of services
- Collect, analyze, and document student progress data to inform instruction
- Support students’ development of academic, organizational, and self-advocacy skills
- Participate in IEP meetings
- Complete special education paperwork in accordance with state and federal regulations

- Possess knowledge of the diverse ways in which students learn and develop
- Ability to engage with students, home, school, colleagues, and the community to support student learning and wellbeing
- Adapt to student needs
- Communicate effectively
- Desire ongoing professional development and improvement
- Experience with co-teaching language arts and/or math preferred.
Requirements
- Background check, including fingerprinting
- Maine Department of Education Certification 282 - Teacher of Children with Disabilities (7 - 12)
Pay and Benefits
- Pay starts at $52,686 per year with possibility of increase based on experience, within the parameters of the applicable contract
