Marketing Account Manager

Marketing Account Manager

The Marketing Account Manager at City Journals is responsible for building and maintaining strong client relationships while ensuring the successful execution of print and direct mail marketing campaigns. This role serves as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of 50+ clients, acting as a strategic partner who helps local businesses maximize the impact of their community-based advertising.

Success in this role requires exceptional organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, keeps many moving pieces on track, and delivers a consistently high level of service across all accounts.

Core Responsibilities

Account Ownership & Client Relationships

Be the go-to person for a portfolio of 50+ clients. Build real relationships by getting to know their business, goals, and what success looks like for them. Stay on top of communication, respond quickly, and make sure every client feels taken care of and confident in their marketing.

Campaign Coordination & Execution

Juggle multiple campaigns at once—keeping timelines, materials, approvals, and placements all moving forward. You’re the one making sure everything comes together smoothly and on time, without last-minute chaos.

Organization & Workflow Management

Stay extremely organized across a high volume of accounts. Keep track of deadlines, deliverables, and renewals so nothing slips through the cracks. Prioritize what matters most each day while keeping details tight and follow-through strong.

Strategic Guidance & Recommendations

Help clients make smart marketing decisions. Turn their goals into clear advertising plans and bring new ideas to the table that can improve results and increase their visibility in the community.

Performance Review & Optimization

Keep clients in the loop on how things are going. Share results, walk through what’s working, and suggest ways to improve or expand their campaigns moving forward.

Account Retention

Build long-term partnerships by delivering consistent results and a great experience. Look for natural opportunities to grow accounts—whether that’s new placements, special features, or expanded reach—and stay ahead of renewals so clients stick with us.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • 3+ years of experience in account management, marketing, advertising, or client services
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of accounts (50+ preferred) without sacrificing quality or responsiveness
