Graduate assistantship duties:
Event Promotion and Engagement:
• Designing posters to promote concerts of the Music Department
• Creating posts for Facebook and Instagram to promote concerts, Open days, auditions, and engage the audience
• Responding to social media messages from people seeking information about concerts or general information about the music department
• Creating marketing brochures, QR codes, and newsletter lists
Event Organization and Logistics:
• Assisting in event organization, including concert setup, recording arrangements, and livestream setup
• Making and editing room reservations for events, classes, and rehearsals
• Scheduling and tracking concerts and events
• Taking photos and videos at concerts for promotional purposes
• Editing photos and videos
Administrative Support:
• Assigning lockers/locks and organizing locker space
• Editing content on the department's website
• Creating lists for faculty use
• Emailing the student body about upcoming events
• Emailing the student body to encourage participation in performance opportunities
• Organizing storage
Technical Support
• Assisting with technical issues and providing guidance on resolution
• Providing piano accompaniment in music classes
• Creating forms for faculty use related to class requirements and competencies
• Arranging YouTube channel livestreams
• Communication and Collaboration
• Contacting guest artists to make arrangements
• Establishing friendly relationships with artists and event attendees for future collaborations and participation (interpersonal skills and networking abilities)
• Website creation for hiring opportunities for Music students for off-campus events.
Description:
Tasked with the creation of promotional materials, the graduate assistant must employ advanced design techniques to produce intricate posters promoting departmental concerts. This process demands meticulous attention to detail and significant time investment to ensure the materials effectively capture
the essence of each event and engage the target audience.
In addition to promotional efforts, the graduate assistant shoulders the responsibility of orchestrating complex logistical arrangements for departmental events. performances and rehearsals. These tasks require an high level of organizational prowess and a considerable time commitment to ensure seamless execution and optimal utilization of resources.
Administratively, part of the duties is the maintenance of the department's online presence. This involves regularly updating website content with attention to detail and managing communication channels with faculty and students. Crafting email announcements about upcoming events and performance opportunities.
Moreover, the role includes providing extensive technical support during events, from troubleshooting equipment issues to coordinating livestreams on various platforms. This requires an advanced understanding of relevant software and equipment, as well as the ability to rapidly address technical challenges under pressure.
Furthermore, the assistant collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating with guest artists for event arrangements and facilitating interdisciplinary initiatives with other departments. These collaborative efforts demand significant time investment and meticulous
coordination to ensure seamless execution and successful outcomes.
Lastly, the graduate assistant plays a vital role in cultivating and maintaining cordial relationships with artists and event attendees. Through genuine interactions and a friendly demeanor, the assistant establishes rapport with artists, creating a conducive environment for collaboration and future
engagements. Additionally, they engage with event attendees in a welcoming manner, fostering a sense of community and encouraging continued participation in departmental activities. By actively nurturing these relationships, the assistant contributes to the department's reputation as a hub for artistic exchange and collaboration, enhancing the overall experience for both artists and attendees alike.
