The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Nurse Clinician to support the safe, continuous, and compliant operation of the Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit (CNRU), serving both inpatient and outpatient participants in clinical research protocols. The Unit operates 24 hours a day, and this role is essential to ensuring high-quality clinical care and adherence to strict research and regulatory requirements.

The Role:
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct clinical oversight and ensure continuity of care for adults participating in inpatient and outpatient clinical research studies.
- Perform ongoing nursing assessments, medication administration, and monitoring for adverse events, documenting and escalating per protocol and regulatory standards.
- Respond immediately to changes in a participant’s medical or psychiatric condition, research-related events, or emergent situations to maintain safety and compliance.
- Support safe and appropriate staffing assignments, contributing to effective 24/7 operations.
- Carry out specialized nursing responsibilities consistent with clinical assessment and patient care expectations, aligned with approved protocols and regulatory guidance.
- Collaborate closely with affiliated research teams; work under the supervision of the Nursing Director and Program Directors to meet unit and study objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Four (4) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a psychiatric setting in supervised individual, group and/or family therapy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
- A Bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.
- Master's degree in nursing may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a current license as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut OR hold a Multistate or Compact Registered Nurse license.
