Marketing, Social Media, and Communications intern

Job Status:  Position is funded for summer 2026

Location: Position is primarily remote with occasional need to meet in Reston, VA

From campaigns and events to daily, digital-first experiences, we work collaboratively to excite and inform our social media audience.

ACS is seeking a Marketing, Social Media, and Communications Intern to support our corporate brand presence and growth objectives through consistent, high-quality social media execution. The intern will help plan, draft, design, schedule, and analyze content across ACS social channels in alignment with ACS brand voice, values, and business priorities (including hiring, culture, technical capabilities, and community engagement). This internship is designed as experiential learning with increasing independence over time, culminating in a portfolio of published content, an updated content library, performance insights, and a brief out-brief of outcomes and recommendations.

Our annual cohort formally runs from 6/1/2026 through 8/14/26 but includes the flexibility to start the work as early as 5/18/2026 and continue beyond the 8/9/2024 end date if the work, project sponsor, and intern agree to an extension.  This position can also be scoped to accommodate interns who want to work either parttime or full time. ACS’s ideal internal candidates are rising undergraduate seniors who display the desire and ability to be self-starters.

ACS interns may telework or create a blended work schedule using our Reston, VA office. There may be occasional in person meetings in Reston, VA where interns are encourage to attend. Interns who do commute to the office are provided a commuting stipend of $125/month. Teleworking interns are expected to use video-based collaboration to work with ACS project sponsors, supervisors, and intern-cohort participants. ACS provides the computer equipment necessary for the intern to be successful in their role.

Our end goal for ACS interns is to identify a future pathway to full time ACS employment. Given the market in which we operate, full time employment (after graduation) will require a security clearance. ACS strongly encourages candidates only apply if they are interested in beginning the process of obtaining a security clearance while participating in the internship.


Scope of Work/Responsibilities:

The intern will support ACS social media operations end-to-end with clear deliverables and measurable outcomes:


1) Content planning and editorial support

  • Build and maintain a weekly and monthly content calendar aligned to ACS priorities (hiring, awards, culture, technical thought leadership, community service, events, milestones)
  • Propose post topics and series concepts (examples: “Meet ACS,” “ACS Values in Action,” “Program Spotlights,” “Contract Win Momentum,” “Day in the Life,” “Career Tips,” “Community Highlights”)
  • Coordinate with their supervisor to confirm priorities, approvals, and posting cadence

2) Content creation and design

  • Draft social media copy in ACS brand voice for LinkedIn (primary), and other channels used by ACS
  • Create visuals in Adobe Express using ACS brand elements (templates, colors, typography, logo usage, photo treatment guidance)
  • Produce multiple content formats: single-image posts, simple carousels, short motion graphics when appropriate, and branded quote tiles, etc.
  • Build a reusable content library (templates and evergreen assets) to reduce long-term effort

3) Publishing and scheduling support

  • Prepare posts for publishing, including final formatting, hashtags, alt text, tagging guidance, and link tracking when needed
  • Maintain a consistent cadence and help reduce last-minute posting by batching content
  • Ensure posts meet basic accessibility and professionalism standards

4) Community and engagement support

  • Monitor engagement signals (comments, reactions, reposts) and note items that need a response
  • Draft suggested responses for supervisor approval to maintain responsiveness and professionalism
  • Track notable engagement from partners, candidates, and customers

5) Performance tracking and recommendations

  • Create a simple monthly performance snapshot (reach, impressions, engagement rate, follower growth, top-performing posts)
  • Identify what content types work best and recommend adjustments to improve results
  • Provide end-of-internship recommendations - what we should keep doing, stop doing, or try next

6) Cross-functional support as needed

  • Support coordination for social posts connected to recruiting, internal awards/recognition announcements, community initiatives, and events
  • Gather inputs (bullets, photos, approvals) from internal stakeholders with supervisor guidance


Required Skills

  • Strong writing skills with ability to write clearly, professionally, and consistently
  • Basic design capability and willingness to learn brand standards and templates
  • Attention to detail (typos, formatting, brand accuracy, professionalism)
  • Ability to take feedback well and revise quickly
  • Reliable time management and comfort working with deadlines


Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with LinkedIn content norms and professional services marketing
  • Experience with Adobe Express (or similar tools such as Canva) and basic layout sense
  • Basic understanding of content performance metrics (engagement, reach, CTR concepts)
  • Interest in consulting, government contracting, technology, and employer branding

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally and collaborate with supervisors and internal stakeholders in a virtual and in-person environment
  • Ability to use digital tools (e.g., Adobe Express or similar platforms) to create, edit, and format content, and to learn social media platforms and analytics tools
  • Ability to review and ensure accuracy, quality, and professionalism of content, including grammar, formatting, accessibility, and brand compliance
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ACS policies when handling internal information and representing the company publicly


Education Qualifications:

  • Actively enrolled in an undergraduate college or university program


Years of Experience:

  • No prior professional experience required; relevant coursework, internships, or project work preferred

Export Control: For all positions requiring access to technology/software source code that is subject to export control laws, employment with the company is contingent on either verifying U.S.-person status or obtaining any necessary license.
