  • Observe and enforce dining room rules
  • Make certain a work schedule is posted each camp period for all dining and kitchen staff.
  • Work closely with the Head Cook, Camp Services Director, and JOY Coordinator(s) in making up the work schedule for staff and the daily management of the dining room.
  • Food service area is to be kept clean and in orderly condition.
  • Control the flow of cabin groups entering the dining hall for each meal. Maintain cabin sign-in sheets.
  • Report any repairs needed to the equipment to the Site and Facilities Director
  • Monitor the portions of food given to campers and staff as regulated by the food nutrition program and dictated by their age.
  • Be sure meals are served on time. Coordination will be needed with the Head Cook to accomplish this objective.
  • Know the menus for each week and anticipate the service needed for each.
  • Meet daily with the dining hall staff to provide guidance and encouragement.
  • Perform inventory of all dining room equipment, dishes, etc. at the end of the camping season.
  • Work closely with JOY Coordinator(s) to mentor younger staff members.
  • Assist Camp Services Director with USDA SFSP reporting.
  • Other duties as requested by Camp Services Director or Camp Director.
