The Resident Advisor serves as a peer resource, model, counselor, and friend who promotes resident student development and community life consistent with the mission and policies of Union University.

Qualifications
  1. Committed disciple of Jesus Christ, actively pursuing a Christian lifestyle, desiring to learn and grow
  2. Demonstrates leadership and interpersonal skills with a desire to build Christian community
  3. Must be a current undergraduate Union student living in university housing (or have lived on campus a minimum of one semester)
  4. Be in good judicial standing with the Office of Student Services and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  5. Must be able to work 20-25 hours in the Bowld Student Commons, plus an additional 15-20 hours completing additional responsibilities as outlined under Expectations
  6. Must be able to do physical activity including working outside in the sun and heat, lifting/carrying 50 lbs., and moving furniture

Expectations
  1. Committed follower of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and actively involved in a local evangelical Christian church
  2. Available to students on a daily basis; consistently pray for building residents and Union community; uphold Union's core vales and our five community values
  3. Confront and report violations of the policies in the Campus Life Handbook
  4. Responsible for check in/out procedures, submitting work orders to Facilities Management Department, and attending staff meetings with their Residence Director
  5. Maintain confidentiality concerning student records and information
  6. Complete Room Condition Reports at the beginning of summer and update these upon checkout of summer residents
  7. Work 20-25 hours per week in the Bowld Student Commons, plus an additional 15-20 hours with the Office of Residence Life
  8. Assist Residence Life with any other duties that may arise including working with Union-sponsored camps and conferences
  9. Clean vacated guest suites to prepare for incoming guests, as needed (Saturday/Sunday)
  10. RAs who desire to hold additional employment must first be approved by the Residence Director.

Additional Responsibilities
May: Arrive for training and prepare for Rising High School Senior move-in
June: Serve Rising High School Senior students and provide programming and mentorship
Assist the Office of Residence Life in preparing for Summer Orientation
July: Assist with administrative tasks to prepare for upcoming academic year including but not
limited to data entry, organizing keys, gathering and sorting paperwork for check-in
August: Complete a walk-through of all apartments to ensure cleanliness and to address any and all
maintenance concerns
Assist with early arrival preparation and check-in
Assist in finalizing preparations for new and returning students' arrival
