92NY K'ton Ton Camp Counselor

92NY Camps: Camp K’Ton Ton Counselor Position  

Join the 92NY Camps staff team! We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic individuals to work as Counselors at our early childhood camp here in New York City. 92NY's team philosophy fosters a stimulating work environment in which every staff member is valued. Camp runs from Monday to Friday from June 29 through August 7, with a pre-camp orientation in June. Assistant Counselors are responsible for supporting the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of the campers throughout camp.     

  

Essential Functions 

• Daily supervision of campers ages 2.5-5 years, including overseeing and supporting campers during lunch, rest, and various camp activities.   

• Assist with and help plan regularly scheduled program activities (arts, sports, gymnastics, Shabbat, classroom play, etc.) commensurate with the abilities, limitations, and needs of individual campers.   

• Communicate regularly with the Head Counselor and Camp Director regarding observations and concerns about individual campers, including any difficulties, as necessary.   

• Assume responsibility for the health and safety of campers, maintaining complete awareness of campers' whereabouts and allergies at all times. 

• Provide support and guidance to campers, nurturing them while respecting their privacy and sense of self-worth.   

• Come prepared every day to fully participate in all camp activities.   

• Read and fully comply with the policies of camp as set forth in the Staff Manual provided during Orientation, including adherence to all rules and regulations, including dress code and emergency procedures. 

• Exude enthusiasm for camp life and activities, incorporating the camp’s values - compassion, kindness, leadership, courage, and mindfulness - while serving as a positive role model for campers.   

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 

• Staff shirt (provided) and sneakers required while on duty; appropriate swimming attire required for swimming activities. 

• Ability to communicate directly with the camp office regarding application materials, pre-camp paperwork, and throughout the summer. 

 

Education, Skills, and Experience  

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or a related field. 

• Experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field. 

• Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities. 

• Ability to work as a member of a team and accomplish tasks with energy and creativity. 

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Salary Range: $2,175-$5,075 

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and, if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.  

 

Camp Dates: Camp runs from Monday to Friday (8:00 AM – 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, 3:30 PM, or 4:30 PM depending on the designated camp group), from June 29 through August 7 with pre-camp orientation in June.
