Job Description

                                        

Job Title: Software/Systems/Application Engineering Intern

Department:  Engineering

 

Summary: 

 

Researches, designs, and develops embedded software for wireless products.  Successful candidate must be a flexible team player, willing to engage diverse technical challenges, and work in conjunction with hardware product development to ensure high quality and timely project completion.  Experience developing drivers, protocol stacks, and applications a plus.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Consult with software/systems engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate hardware and software interfaces, functional requirements, and performance requirements of the overall system.
  2. Formulate and design software systems using scientific analysis and theoretical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
  3. Design, code, integrate, test, configure, and document complete system and software solutions.
  4. Consult with customers concerning maintenance of software system.
  5. Clearly communicate and present designs and tradeoffs to development team, customers, and potential customers.
  6. Support proposal activities.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience:

 

  1. The candidate is attending a university or college pursuing a technical bachelor's degree (BSEE or BSCS). 

 

Computer Skills:

  1. Knowledge of C/C++, .NET Framework, VB and/or DSP.  Java, Perl, Python helpful.
  2. GUI application development on Windows (2K, XP) using MFC or .NET.
  3. Experience with mobile operating environments, iOS, Android, Windows Mobile is desired.
  4. Experience on Intel XScale, and ARM microprocessors, TI DSPs, and embedded microcontrollers is desired.

 

Reasoning Ability:

 

  1. Candidate must possess the ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  2. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  1. Individual must display original thinking and creativity; meeting challenges with resourcefulness in a timely manner.

 

Applicant must be a US citizen, and have housing arranged.

 

Internship would run from mid-May until beginning/middle of August depending on your school schedule.
