The Procurement and Vendor Management (PVM) Risk Office is dedicated to enhancing the organization’s ability to identify, assess, and manage operational risks across all business units. Our mission is to provide independent, objective assurance and advisory services that improve the effectiveness of risk management, governance, and internal controls. Within this office, the Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) team ensures that external vendors and partners meet Navy Federal’s risk, compliance, and performance standards.
Potential projects for the PVM Risk Office summer associate may include:
- Assisting in risk assessments for key operational areas
- Supporting control testing and validation activities
- Assisting with Third Party Risk Due Diligence
- Developing risk reporting tools and dashboards
- Researching emerging operational risk trends and regulatory developments
- Participating in process reviews to identify gaps and improvement opportunities
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2026 and ending in August 2026. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later.
Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting operational risk assessments and control evaluations
- Participate in process walkthroughs and document workflows, risks, and controls
- Analyze risk data and audit evidence to assess control effectiveness
- Support issue remediation and closure validation efforts
- Prepare documentation and work papers that support risk observations and recommendations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate operational risks
- Contribute to the development of risk metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools
- Engage with other Summer Associates and team members to share insights and learnings
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of business and operating environment Knowledge and understanding of risk-based auditing techniques and methodologies
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, company policies, and industry best practices
- Experience with project management skills
- Knowledge of operational and regulatory risk controls concepts and practices Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Auditing, or related field or equivalent combination of training, education and experience
- Background, experience or academic knowledge of organizational design concepts
