Summer 2026 - Electrical/Communications Systems Intern
STV is seeking a motivated Electrical/Communications Systems Intern to join our team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students interested in gaining practical experience in electrical and communications systems design. You will work under the direction of senior staff on a variety of projects, contributing to essential tasks in design, documentation, and project management. This is a hybrid position requiring at least 3 days in the office each week.
Responsibilities:
- Drawing Preparation: Assist in preparing detailed drawings using BIM programs such as Revit, 2D CAD, Microstation, and other relevant software, focusing on:
- Device layouts
- Equipment layouts
- Riser and block diagrams
- Connection diagrams
- Project schedules
- Support the development of engineering cost estimates for projects.
- Format reports and specifications for project submissions, maintaining accurate documentation and file management.
- Assist in creating presentation materials for client meetings, including visual aids and data representations.
- Attend project site visits to collect relevant data and observe existing conditions, ensuring all necessary information is available for design document preparation.
- Engage in assignments that provide practical, hands-on experience in the industry while gaining insight into the company’s organizational structure.
- Use company-wide or department-specific software to complete assignments, including layout and calculation tools to support design and analysis.
- Perform tasks as assigned to support project goals and expand understanding of electrical and communication systems design.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited university.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic proficiency with BIM and CAD software (Revit, AutoCAD, Microstation).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing project documents and deliverables.
- Knowledge of engineering cost estimation methods.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Familiarity with electrical/communications system design and engineering concepts.
