Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Part Time

The Emergency Department Nurse (RN) supervises and directs patient care in the emergency department (ED). This role involves assessing patient conditions, initiating emergency treatments, and assisting physicians with procedures. The nurse also participates in staff development, public relations, and ensures patient safety and confidentiality.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of triage criteria and prioritize patient care in the ED.
  • Ensure proper patient identification and documentation.
  • Assist physicians in administering treatments and procedures.
  • Assess patient conditions and initiate steps to meet acute needs.
  • Use specialized equipment for monitoring or therapeutic purposes.
  • Assess and help patients and families adapt to the ED setting.
  • Collect data and develop nursing care plans.
  • Teach preventive health measures and define measures to protect patients from complications.
  • Maintain a controlled environment and demonstrate emotional stability in emergencies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, continuing education programs, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, HIPAA protocols, and compliance objectives.
  • Supervise and assist other personnel in the department.
  • Notify the supervisor of any problems or specific events in the ED.
  • Report to work as scheduled and demonstrate flexibility when requested to come in on a scheduled day off.

     

Education: Eligible for or currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in Wisconsin.
Certification: BLS, ACLS certified
Preferred:  12 months or more of previous nursing experience, especially in ED or CCU.
Other: Ability to lift 50 pounds without restriction and stand or walk for extended periods.
