Job Summary:

We are seeking an 8 plus experienced Senior Mainframe professional with deep expertise in mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, IMS) to design, develop, and maintain mission-critical enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will lead projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate closely with business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams to ensure high-quality, efficient, and secure solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications (COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS).

Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable and maintainable solutions.

Perform coding, unit testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Lead small to medium-sized projects or workstreams.

Mentor junior developers on coding, debugging, and performance optimization.

Participate in design and code reviews to enforce standards and best practices.

Monitor, analyze, and optimize applications for performance, reliability, and scalability.

Identify and resolve bottlenecks in batch and online processes.

Apply best practices for efficient CPU, memory, and I/O usage.

Collaborate with QA teams to create test plans and test cases.

Support integration and system testing to ensure defect-free delivery.

Perform thorough unit testing before deployment.

Stay updated with mainframe technologies (z/OS, DevOps for mainframe, automated testing tools).

Recommend and implement process, methodology, and tool improvements.

Explore legacy system modernization, including integration with cloud or distributed systems.
