Archival Intern

Job Description

The Red Door Films is seeking a research-obsessed, archival-focused intern to support our feature documentary, Coming Home: Fight for a Legacy, which centers on the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), the often-overlooked women heroes of WWII. This role is ideal for someone who loves digging through primary sources, building clean databases, and shaping a story through meticulous research.

Responsibilities of an Archival Intern:

- Work with editing and production teams.

- Identify and organize WWII and WASP-related materials (footage, photos, letters, records).

- Conduct research in online and physical archives (e.g., Library of Congress, National Archives).

- Maintain Airtable databases for archival assets, including metadata and rights information.

- Assist in linking archival findings to the film's narrative.

- Material Sourcing: Source and tag materials to aid editorial workflow and post-production.

- Gain insights into archival research and production processes.

- Learn from women-led leadership focused on your professional growth.

Qualifications

- Able to commit 15+ hours/week (including company meetings); hours are flexible.

- Demonstrated interest in archival research, history, or documentary (coursework, projects, or prior experience).

- Familiarity with online media and research archives (e.g., ProQuest, academic databases, digital libraries, government/military records).

Comfortable navigating government and institutional sources (Library of Congress, NARA, Congressional records, military documentation, museum archives).

- High level of organization and attention to detail; comfortable working with spreadsheets and structured data.

- Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive).

- Airtable experience is strongly preferred (or eagerness to learn quickly).

- Self-motivated, independent, and reliable; able to manage long-term research tasks with minimal supervision.

This is an unpaid internship.
