IT Systems Administration part-time-to-hire

Position Overview

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting Vericut’s end-user computing environment, core systems, and internal IT operations. This role provides day-to-day technical support, administers enterprise systems and endpoints, supports onboarding and software deployment, and assists in maintaining a secure and reliable IT infrastructure.

This position partners closely with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to ensure technology systems operate efficiently and align with business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide end-user IT support, including troubleshooting operating systems, applications, VPN connectivity, remote desktop access, password resets, and general desktop issues
  • Administer and maintain the internal ticketing system, including implementation, monitoring, and ongoing system optimization
  • Perform systems administration tasks such as user and group management, security permissions, group policy management, resource monitoring, and event log analysis
  • Maintain and support internal IT infrastructure, including laptops, desktops, operating systems, security tools, and peripheral hardware
  • Provision and support engineering workstations, including system imaging, migrations, hardware refresh cycles, and new equipment deployments
  • Deploy and maintain company software, including productivity applications and CAD/CAM platforms, utilizing automated or scripted processes where appropriate
  • Coordinate third-party software installations and technical requirements for engineering and technical teams
  • Apply updates, patches, and security configurations to ensure systems meet security and performance standards
  • Support collaboration and communication platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, GoToMeeting)
  • Onboard new employees by provisioning hardware, creating accounts, configuring systems, and providing initial technical support
  • Conduct routine system audits and vulnerability assessments; support remediation efforts as needed
  • Maintain accurate IT documentation, procedures, and internal technical guidelines
  • Manage and deploy mobile training equipment and related assets
  • Contribute to IT-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives

What Success Looks Like

Within the First 90 Days

  • Develop a strong understanding of Vericut’s IT environment, systems architecture, and security standards
  • Begin independently resolving common support tickets within established service levels
  • Build working relationships with internal teams, particularly engineering and technical stakeholders
  • Successfully support new hire onboarding processes with minimal oversight

Within 6 Months

  • Demonstrate consistent ownership of ticket resolution and endpoint management
  • Proactively identify and address recurring technical issues or process inefficiencies
  • Contribute to improving documentation, automation, or system standardization efforts
  • Support system audits, patch management, and vulnerability remediation initiatives

Within 12 Months

  • Operate as a trusted IT partner to internal teams
  • Identify opportunities to enhance system performance, security posture, and operational efficiency
  • Lead or meaningfully contribute to at least one infrastructure improvement or IT optimization project
  • Maintain high levels of service reliability, responsiveness, and user satisfaction

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 0–3 years of progressively responsible experience in systems administration, IT support, or a related technical role

 

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience providing IT support within a Windows-based enterprise environment
  • Experience with endpoint management, asset management, and security/antivirus solutions
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and related enterprise platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to support users at varying technical levels
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with VMware, Linux environments, and/or cybersecurity tools
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation to improve IT operational efficiency
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., MCSE, Server+, Network+)
  • Advanced degree in a related field

 

This position partners closely with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to ensure technology systems operate efficiently and align with business objectives. This role is open to candidates seeking either part-time or full-time employment, with the potential to transition from part-time to full-time based on business needs and performance.
