Development Director

Position Summary

Holy Names Music Center (HNMC) seeks a highly organized, relationship-oriented Development Director to support and advance the Center’s fundraising, donor engagement, and development operations. This role is ideal for a detail-driven professional who enjoys combining relationship-building with systems, storytelling, and logistics. The Coordinator will play a key role in donor stewardship, annual giving, events, grant support, and development communications, working closely with the Program Manager, and will provide regular reports to the Board of Directors, and Development  Committee.

This position supports HNMC’s mission to provide inclusive, high-quality music education and community engagement opportunities for students of all ages and backgrounds.

POSITION OVERVIEW                                                                                                                The Development  Director serves as a strategic leader of the fundraising efforts for the Holy Names Music Center, advancing the center’s mission of nurturing a lifelong passion for the arts by giving voice to the human spirit.  The role of Development Director is a critical one for the Music Center, especially as a nonprofit organization.  The Development Director leads all fundraising efforts, including strategies for obtaining grants, organizing fundraising events and cultivating donor relationships.The Development Director reports to the Program Manager.


 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Create a development plan for Holy Names Music Center
  • Plan, organize and manage the budget for an annual fundraising events
  • Maintain accurate donor and fundraising records
  • Research and write grants
  • Cultivate donor relationships
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with Program Manager
  • Support development-related communications, including fundraising emails, newsletters, and assist with social media content 
  • Coordinate with marketing or administrative staff to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
  • Communicate regularly with the Board of Trustees, especially the Development Committee of the Board.


 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, event planning and grant writing
  • Strong leadership, excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities independently.
  • Proficiency with basic office technology (email, spreadsheets, word processing) and willingness to learn donor management software.
  • Passion for the mission of the Holy Names Music Center

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

  • Part-time position, 20 hours per week; Non-exempt
  • $30 per hour remuneration
  • Professional office setting with free parking
  • Paid sick and vacation leave
  • Flexible scheduling within normal business hours; occasional evenings or weekends may be required for events.

Employment with Holy Names Music Center is at-will and may be terminated at any time, with or without cause.
