We have approximately 150 students from 3K through 12th grade and are located on the beautiful Hammock Coast in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
We are seeking a full-time Middle / Upper School Science Teacher to join our teaching faculty starting in July 2026. This position will be exempt and report directly to the Head of School.
Job Summary: The Upper School Science Teacher at Lowcountry Preparatory School is responsible for implementing a comprehensive and connected instructional program including course work in Life Science (MS), Physical Science (MS), Biology Honors (US), and AP Biology (US). This role is pivotal in creating a positive and effective learning environment that aligns with the school’s philosophy and goals.
Essential Duties:
Classroom Instruction:
Create an engaging classroom environment that fosters a love for learning.
Lesson Planning and Preparation:
Prepare lesson plans and curriculum materials in advance, incorporating a variety of instructional techniques to support student learning.
Set clear learning objectives for each lesson and guide the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals that are in line with the STEAM program.
Classroom Management
Expect students to maintain high standards of classroom decorum and behavior.
Foster a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
Assessment and Reporting
Evaluate students through a broad range of assessments and demonstrate proficiency in carrying out hands-on labs.
Communicate effectively with parents about student progress.
Professional Development
Continuously strive to enhance professional competence by staying updated on educational best practices.
Collaboration
Attend staff meetings and actively participate in school committees or activities as required.
Qualifications:
Passion for working with middle and high school-aged students
Ability and desire to work collaboratively
Flexibility and a good sense of humor
Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field
U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States
