As an early childhood educator at Ely’s first and only comprehensive childcare center, you will have the opportunity to nurture Ely’s youngest citizens, helping to lay the foundation for lifelong learning and healthy social-emotional development.
We are proudly 4-Star Parent Aware rated — the highest rating available — and we teach the Experience Early Learning Curriculum. Our staff foster a love of learning through play, art, music, and outdoor exploration.
Lead Teacher Responsibilities
- Oversee all activities in the classroom
- Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child
- Post updates (meals, bathroom breaks, naps, medical incidents, etc.) to our family communication tool, Brightwheel
- Conduct family conferences and maintain communication with families
- Collaborate with the Director to implement curriculum within the established guidelines
- Work collaboratively with the rest of the HDLC staff to facilitate an inclusive, safe, and happy environment for children and families
Essential Functions
- Maintain an unconditional positive regard for children
- Meet the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development of children
- Exhibit extreme patience and calm in the face of stressful situations
- Maintain a sanitary environment and maintain school equipment
- Assist children with personal hygiene, feeding, and toileting/diapering
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible; in accordance with the Happy Days Learning Center Employee Handbook
Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, kneel, bend, stoop, and sit on the floor to meet children’s needs
- Working in a loud, fast-paced, and sometimes stressful environment
- Spending time outdoors in all types of weather (except during severe heat, air quality advisories, cold advisories, or thunderstorms)
- Occasional exposure to verbal or physical outbursts from children
General Requirements
- Bachelors degree or higher in related field OR
- High school diploma or equivalency plus relevant experience
- Ability to consistently be at work on time for scheduled shifts
- Obtain and pass a background check
- Have current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Abide by all policies documented in the Happy Days Learning Center Employee Handbook
