Assistant Teacher
Position Summary:
The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. This role involves assisting with daily classroom activities, supervising children, and helping implement age-appropriate curriculum that promotes social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily lessons and activities
- Supervise children at all times to ensure safety and well-being
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
- Support children’s social and emotional development through positive guidance and interaction
- Assist with mealtimes, diapering/toileting, and other routine care needs
- Observe and document children’s behavior and progress as directed
- Communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development
- Follow all licensing regulations, health, and safety guidelines
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Previous experience working with young children in a childcare or educational setting (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, and move frequently throughout the day
