Graduate Student Hourly Employee - Summer 2026 - Social Work Department
Reports to: Social Work Department Chair, MSW Coordinator, and Field Coordinator
Contract Dates: May 26, 2026 – August 15, 2026
Hours per week: 15-20 (There will be a set schedule, but we are flexible as to days/times and will negotiate this with the successful candidate.)
Pay: $18/hour
Location: Laurentide 5012 & 5201, UW-Whitewater main campus
Position Requirements
- Applicant must be a current graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater
- This is on-campus position and requires the employee to work in person. Remote work is not available for this role
Responsibilities
- Department Support (75%)
- Greet visitors, provide information, accept/relay messages, refer to appropriate faculty or office as needed.
- Assist with/organize department events to create opportunities for student engagement.
- Provide general administrative assistance to the Field Education Office, including document preparation, data entry, and file organization.
- Support curriculum audits as guided by the BSW or MSW Program Coordinator
- Support development/updating of BSW/MSW program materials including but not limited to program and field handbooks.
- Support BSW and MSW students as needed, especially in regard to summer SOAR and other new or prospective student events
- Other tasks/projects as needed/assigned by the department chair, field coordinator or MSW program coordinator
- Complete other miscellaneous office duties (i.e. copying, making orientation folders, marketing material, binder assembly, cleaning, etc.).
- Contracts/Data Management (25%)
- Support the management and tracking of field placement contracts and affiliation agreements with community agencies.
- Maintain and update records related to field placement sites, supervisors, and student assignments.
- Assist with data collection, organization, and documentation supporting reaffirmation of accreditation for BSW and MSW programs (e.g., CSWE requirements).
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge and comfortability of various uses of computer applications such as spreadsheets, databases, and word processors such as Office, Excel, PowerPoint or other web-based tools.
- General knowledge of office policies, practices, and procedures.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to establish positive interaction with a variety of people in differing environments
- Effective problem-solving techniques and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain progress on assigned tasks with intermittent supervision.
