Community Safety Initiatives (CSI) Intern - Summer 2026

Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention organization, is seeking a Summer 2026 Community Safety Fund Intern. The Community Safety Fund supports community-based organizations working to prevent gun violence through strategic grant making, capacity building, and programming that strengthens the field of community violence intervention.

In this role, the intern will support the Community Safety Fund team in coordinating grantee communications, organizing grant documentation, and assisting with the planning and execution of programming for the national grantee network. The intern will also support the planning and coordination of a stand-alone Community Safety Fund branded events that brings together partners and leaders in the field.

Location: New York City (hybrid; 2 days per week in office)
Schedule: 24 hours per week
Duration of Internship: May 26, 2026 to early/ mid-August 2026, 10 weeks

The minimum hourly rate for this role is $18.00.

Primary Responsibilities

You will work closely with members of the Community Safety Fund team on activities that support grantee engagement, communications, and grant administration. Examples include:

  • Assist with organizing and maintaining grantee documentation, agreements, and internal tracking systems
  • Support coordination of grantee communications, including emails, blog content, and website updates
  • Assist with planning and logistics for virtual and in-person programming, including quarterly calls, orientations, and grantee convenings
  • Support the planning and coordination of a stand-alone Community Safety Fund branded convening event for our grantees and partners, including preparation of materials, coordination with internal teams, and event logistics
  • Help prepare materials for internal meetings, presentations, and advisory board engagement
  • Support coordination across internal teams involved in amplifying and supporting grantee work
  • Provide general administrative support to ensure smooth execution of grants and programming

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Interest in nonprofit work, philanthropy, or community-based violence prevention
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) or similar tools is a plus

About the Hiring Process

Selected candidates will participate in a 30-minute virtual interview with a member of the hiring team. Finalists will participate in a 30–45 minute interview with members of the Community Safety Fund team.
