Extended Care Assistant Director
Job Description
St. Edward-Epiphany Catholic School in Chesterfield, VA is seeking a Full-Time Extended Care Assistant Director to support students in our Extended Care Program. This 10-month position works 11:45am-6:00pm daily and assists in supervising staff, ensuring student safety, organizing activities, and maintaining a nurturing environment consistent with our mission and values. The Assistant Director helps ensure the program runs smoothly while fostering a welcoming, structured, and faith-filled environment for students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Extended Care Director with the daily operation of the after-school care program.
- Help supervise students in grades JK–8, ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
- Support the scheduling and supervision of Extended Care staff.
- Assist with student sign-in and sign-out procedures and maintain accurate attendance records.
- Help plan and implement age-appropriate activities including homework support, enrichment opportunities, crafts, outdoor play, and quiet time.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and school administration regarding student needs or program updates.
- Encourage appropriate student behavior and report concerns to the Principal.
- Help manage student behavior consistent with school policies.
- Ensure compliance with all school and diocesan policies and procedures.
- Step in to lead the program when the Director is unavailable.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, preferably in a school, childcare, or after-school program.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to supervise and engage students across a wide range of ages (JK–8).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and administration.
- Commitment to fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.
- Alignment with and respect for the mission and values of Catholic education.
