Job Description: Entry-Level B2B Steel Service Center Salesperson

Location: Wixom, MI (Hybrid — In-office + Local Travel for Outside Sales)

Type: Full-Time, Entry Level

Travel: Regular travel to customer sites; valid driver’s license required

Compensation: Base pay ranges from $45,000–$60,000, depending on experience. This position also includes a commission-based incentive compensation structure in addition to an annual bonus opportunity.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated, outgoing, and hard‑working Entry-Level Salesperson to join our steel service center team. This hybrid role is ideal for a driven self‑starter who enjoys building relationships, prospecting new business, and learning the technical side of steel products. You will split your time between our Wixom, MI office and traveling to customer sites to support outside sales efforts.

You will develop new business through cold calling, field visits, and prospecting; support existing accounts; and collaborate with our inside sales and operations teams to ensure excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Prospecting

- Cold call, network, research, and prospect potential B2B customers to build a new sales pipeline.

- Travel within the region to meet with prospects and existing customers for relationship-building and onsite needs assessments.

- Identify new business opportunities by understanding customer requirements, product needs, and market conditions.

Account Growth & Customer Management

- Build and maintain relationships with new and existing accounts, supporting long-term customer satisfaction and retention.

- Develop a personal book of business and contribute to overall territory growth goals.

- Support inside sales functions when needed, including quotes, order status updates, and customer communication.

Sales Activities & Coordination

- Prepare and deliver quotes, pricing information, and product recommendations based on customer needs.

- Enter and maintain accurate CRM records for leads, opportunities, customer interactions, and pipeline activity.

- Collaborate with inside sales, operations, and logistics teams to ensure orders, deliveries, and customer requests are handled smoothly.

- Resolve customer issues, inquiries, and concerns promptly to maintain strong relationships.

Market Awareness

- Stay updated on steel products, grades, and processing capabilities.

- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify sales opportunities.

Qualifications

Required

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Supply Chain, or related field.

- Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and self-motivated mindset.

- Outgoing personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Clean, valid driver’s license and comfort with regular in-territory travel.

- Ability to build rapport with customers and manage multiple priorities.

- Organizational and time-management skills; detail-oriented recordkeeping.

- Strong mathematical and analytical abilities, including the ability to calculate pricing, margins, discounts, and volume-based projections, and to interpret data trends to identify sales opportunities and make informed recommendations.

Preferred (Willing to train)

- Prior sales or customer service experience.

- Familiarity with steel products, processing services, or metals distribution.

- Experience with CRM software such as Salesforce or similar platforms.

Work Environment

- Hybrid: in-office work at Wixom, MI facility plus customer site visits.

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Wixom, MI 48393
