Geotechnical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with a minimum of 3 years. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or have the ability to obtain licensure within one year.

This role requires proficiency in performing comprehensive geotechnical investigations and the design of retaining walls, from initial proposal to final report preparation. Candidates should be capable of conducting independent work as well as being on a team. Having a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are essential, along with the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. They have the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively to clients and team members and will ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and precision are met on every project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct extensive fieldwork in all weather conditions, including subsurface soil exploration, material sampling, and oversight of the testing of asphalt, concrete, and backfill soils to support accurate project assessments.
  • Perform in-depth analysis and review of testing results from the field technician materials testing projects to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Evaluate foundation soils and site conditions to determine construction suitability, analyzing factors such as stability, bearing capacity, and settlement potential.
  • Prepare detailed geotechnical investigation reports, providing thorough analysis, technical recommendations, and actionable insights to guide design and construction decisions.
  • Develop and execute geotechnical structural designs for retaining walls and related structures, ensuring alignment with industry codes, regulations, and project requirements.
  • Independently manage projects or supervise junior engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Liaise with clients to understand project objectives, deliver tailored geotechnical solutions, and maintain high standards of service throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, and environmental engineers, to drive project success and ensure alignment with broader project goals.
  • Engage in geotechnical structure forensic assessments as necessary
  • Ensure thorough and precise documentation of project activities, findings, and progress for comprehensive project records and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Valid P.E. license or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to insure.
  • Legally able to live and work in the country where the position is based.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 65 pounds.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Project management experience
  • Experience managing a team or mentoring junior engineers
