Environmental Scientist

Solv is a small business that supports the mission of government clients by providing sustainable solutions based on sound engineering, science, economic, and management principles. Solv has an immediate need for an Environmental Scientist to provide full-time support to a client in Washington, DC. 

Solv employees develop a diverse set of skills to better support our clients in the areas of environmental planning, management, and compliance; natural resources management; and energy management. Candidates must possess a master’s degree from an accredited university in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or equivalent.

Ideal candidates will have experience providing government agencies with compliance support for environmental laws and regulations (e.g., NEPA, ESA, CAA, CWA, RCRA). All candidates must possess outstanding oral and written communications skills. The Environmental Scientist will work under a federal agency’s environmental and energy program to help implement and improve the client’s performance nationwide.

Job duties include:

  • Providing subject matter expertise and identifying emerging requirements for compliance with environmental laws and regulations;
  • Working with facilities’ personnel to conduct assessments of environmental compliance progress and determine priority actions for various initiatives;
  • Reviewing and preparing NEPA documents;
  • Supporting the organization’s response to requests for agency-wide data calls;
  • Participating in meetings with government personnel;
  • Supporting short-term and long-term initiatives for environmental and energy programs; 
  • Implementing new processes within the organization; and
  • Assisting with developing policy, standard operating procedures, tools, and programmatic guidance.
