EHS & HR Intern

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented full‑time intern to support both our Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives and Human Resources (HR) operations within our automotive production facility. This unique hybrid role provides hands-on exposure to EHS compliance and safety processes while also developing practical HR experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Support

  • Update Standard Work Instructions: Review and revise safety-related procedures, emergency response plans, and documentation to align with regulatory standards.
  • Update Lock-Out Instructions: Assist in updating and documenting machine- and equipment-specific lock-out procedures to support safe maintenance activities.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs): Perform JSAs for non-routine tasks, identify hazards, and recommend corrective measures.
  • Prepare Chemical Labels: Create accurate, compliant chemical labels including hazard symbols and handling instructions; ensure labels are durable for year‑round use.
  • Toolbox Talks: Support Production Unit Leaders by preparing and occasionally facilitating toolbox talks and safety communication materials.

Human Resources Support

  • Culture Walks & Action Follow-Up: Participate in culture walks, document findings, and support corrective or improvement actions.
  • A3 Participation: Contribute to A3 problem-solving activities and continuous improvement processes.
  • Recruiting Assistance: Review applications, schedule interviews, participate in interviews, and assist with background checks and MED1 authorizations.
  • Payroll Systems Learning: Gain introductory exposure to payroll processes and system navigation.
  • Data Entry & Filing: Provide administrative support for documentation, employee files, and data management.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Basic understanding of safety principles or manufacturing environments is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems; familiarity with SAP is a plus.
  • Available to work full‑time.
