The Journalism Team Member is responsible for writing articles that are based on interviews with experts and that incorporate diversity statistics and explore various aspects of how racism plays a role in various aspects of society. The writer will consult Balance Now’s style guide and SEO specifications. The ideal candidate must have a general understanding of informative, opinion, and persuasive writing styles at a college level or higher, the peer-editing process, Google and Microsoft applications, and Wordpress (ideal). This person must possess advanced writing skills, be technologically savvy, have good time management, and be able to establish and follow deadlines. They must be able to research and conduct interviews with experts on the subject. They must be able to communicate verbally and through writing, have reading and writing comprehension, think creatively to come up with ideas, and work well in a team dynamic. The ideal candidate will be proactive, receptive to feedback and constructive criticism, self-accountable, maintain integrity, and be passionate about writing. Additionally, they will be conducting interviews with experts.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of informative, opinion, and persuasive writing styles

Meetings: Wednesdays 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. PST
Details: This is an unpaid internship. You will work remotely for 15 hours weekly with a flexible schedule. The duration of the internship is a minimum of 4 months to a maximum of 6 months. Team Member can earn school credit, work experience in a start-up, and letters of recommendation upon completion.
