Chemical Engineering Intern

Position Overview:

At Sea Foam, our paid internships are designed to give students real world experience working alongside professionals from a variety of disciplines.  Through hands-on projects, interns connect classroom theory to real industry challenges. This role collaborates across multiple company functions, providing exposure to innovation within our target markets. Interns will contribute to projects involving product packaging, formulation, testing, and data analysis while gaining insight into how ideas move from concept to finished product.

This position will assist the Research & Development (R&D) division of the company with a variety of technical hands-on and administrative tasks. We are headquartered in Chaska, MN but will also require travel to our secondary offsite testing facility in Eden Prairie, MN.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with new product development projects
  • Assist and/or lead innovation research projects
  • Assist laboratory technicians and engineers with validation testing
  • Collect and analyze data helping draw conclusions and recommend direction
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations

 

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of assigned projects and other proprietary information
  • Candidate must be able to drive to Chaska, MN and secondary facility in Eden Prairie, MN to perform job duties. Both locations will be utilized frequently
  • Ensure a safe working environment by maintaining cleanliness and adhering to company policies and procedures

Requirements of Position:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry from an ABET accredited program
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher (out of a 4.0 scale)
  • Legal right to work in the US without restriction 
  • Ability to work in both an office and laboratory environment
  • Occasional lifting of laboratory or testing materials (up to 50lbs)
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Laboratory or research experience
  • Candidate would be entering either their Junior or Senior year of school
  • Familiar with chemical process equipment and analytical instruments
  • Experience with data analysis and statistics
  • Interest in fuels, lubricants, and/or specialty chemicals
