Research Intern (Graduate Research Assistant)
We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our research team. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting research administration. The successful candidate will work closely with seasoned professionals to learn the fundamentals of research IT, research communication, sponsored programs, and administrative support in a research setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist staff with preparing and submitting grant proposals, ensuring compliance with sponsor and institutional guidelines.
- Review funding opportunities and summarize requirements.
- Support staff with budget justifications.
- Assist with web maintenance and social media.
- Assist with research storytelling and research communication.
- Research and assist with document and material development.
- Assist with scanning, copying, and other administrative duties.
- Assist with special events.
- Participate in training sessions and meetings related to research administration.
- Assist in covering the front office, answering phones, and other front office duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a master’s program.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Interest in research administration, grants, or nonprofit funding.
Preferred Qualifications
- B or higher GPA
- Major or minor in technical communication, communication, writing and composition, public administration, business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field
- Familiarity with grant or contract administration processes.
- Experience with copyediting, proofreading, fact-checking, financial management, and/or budgeting.
- Knowledge of federal funding agencies (e.g., NIH, NSF, DOE) and their requirements.
- Experience using grant management systems or databases (e.g., Cayuse, InfoEd, or similar platforms).
- Prior internship or work experience in a university, research, or nonprofit setting.
