About the Role
The Hospitality Intern I position is a hands-on, seasonal role designed for sophomore or junior hospitality students looking to gain meaningful, real-world experience in luxury resort and event operations.
This intern will support day-to-day guest services and event operations while working closely with our Innkeeper/Event Coordinator and Hospitality Intern I. While still a learning role, Intern I will take on increasing responsibility and be expected to contribute actively during our busiest summer months.
During the summer season, Lake Life Cottages and The Beach Barn host 17+ weekend weddings, in addition to full resort guest operations—making this an immersive, fast-paced learning environment.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities
●Assisting with guest check-ins, check-outs, and on-site guest support
●Supporting cottage readiness, inspections, and resort standards
●Assisting with wedding and event setup, execution, and teardown
●Providing vendor and bar-area support during events as directed
●Learning professional guest communication and hospitality standards
●Supporting the Innkeeper/Event Coordinator with daily operational needs
Work Schedule
●Peak season (May–October) requires long hours, evenings, weekends, and up to sixdays per week.
●Off-season (November–April) offers a reduced and more flexible schedule.
Physical Work Requirements & Essential Functions
Lake Life Cottages LLC (Lake Life Cottages® and The Beach Barn™) operate as a hands-on luxury waterfront resort and event venue. All operational roles require physical activity as an essential function of the position regardless of season.
The employee must be able to perform the following essential physical requirements:
Mobility & Movement
●Stand and remain on feet for extended periods (4–10+ hours during events)
●Walk frequently throughout the property, including:○Indoor event space
○Outdoor patios
○Parking areas
○Beachfront and shoreline
○Inside of Cottages
●Walk and work on sand and uneven ground
●Climb stairs regularly between levels of cottages and event areas
●Frequently bend, twist, squat, kneel, and reach
●Perform repetitive motions associated with setup, service, and breakdown
●Regular physical tasks include; setting up tables and chairs, moving décor, stockingsupplies-including transport of liquor and equipment between locations, and assistingwith general property upkeep including moving outdoor furniture that may have beenrelocated by a guest.
Lifting & Carrying
●Lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing 40–50 pounds
●Move tables, chairs, décor, bar equipment, supplies, and event materials
●Assist with loading and unloading event or operational items
Environmental Conditions
●Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, wind, humidity,and cooler temperatures
●Work in high-volume, high-activity environments during events
Schedule & Duration
●Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules
●Work extended hours during peak season
●Maintain stamina and focus during long event days
