Growth Web Designer Intern (Flexible)

Growth Web Designer Intern (Flexible)

Are you looking to use your skills for a mission-driven, community-focused cause? Are you curious about New York City’s "wild side"—the parks and coastlines that keep our local wildlife and adventurous residents thriving? 🦆☘️🐰

Join Wild City as we develop engaging programs to keep NYC’s green spaces and wild coasts buzzing.

We are seeking a Growth Web Designer Intern who lives at the intersection of design, data, and psychology. You won’t just be "making websites"—you will be building high-performance digital environments. Using modern drag-and-drop builders (e.g. Canva, Wix), you will design layouts that are visually stunning, technically optimized for SEO, and written to convert.

⭐ Flexible & Remote: We offer flexible volunteer schedules that fit your life. You’ll build user-centric, real-world projects that showcase your talent to our community, corporate partners and your future employers.

⭐ Under 20 hours a week is fine. We'll provide regular feedback to keep you on course and working towards an achievable goal.

🌲  What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Conversion-First Design: Build and maintain responsive websites using no-code platforms (Wix and Canva) ensuring every layout choice guides the user toward a specific action (CTA).
  • SEO Integration: Implement on-page SEO best practices during the build, including strategic site architecture, heading hierarchies (H1–H6), and meta-data optimization to drive organic traffic.
  • Strategic Copywriting: Craft "the best language" for the site by writing persuasive headlines and micro-copy that aligns with our brand voice and solves user pain points.
  • UX & Interaction: Create intuitive user journeys by applying UI/UX principles like visual hierarchy, color psychology, and type hierarchy to reduce friction and bounce rates.
  • Optimization & Testing: Use data from tools like Google Search Console and Google Analytics to identify high-drop-off areas to improve user experience and SEO
