Oneida County is accepting applications to fill a Deputy Register of Deeds I position in the Register of Deeds Office. 

 

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: This position requires accurate data entry and the ability to work with the public on a daily basis, assisting with searching the land records, answering questions and issuing vital records as governed by state statue.  This position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative duties, while exercising independent judgment and initiative.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Qualified candidates must have a high school degree or equivalent with experience in general math, secretarial tasks and computers, or office setting plus: 

  • two years post high school education with experience above areas plus experience in land records preferred,  OR 
  • one year post high school education in above areas, plus one year work experience in a land records/description environment, OR 
  • two years work experience in a land/records/description environment, or a customer service office environment   

 

The ideal candidate will have good computer skills with experience in Microsoft office systems and knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, terminology, and equipment.  Candidate should also have the ability to maintain accurate and complete records.  Working effectively with public, external organizations and employees across multiple departments, maintaining confidentiality, and the ability to problem solve and make good decisions are a must.

 

WAGES AND BENEFITS:  Starting 2026 hourly rate of $21.36 plus excellent benefit package, including Wisconsin Retirement System benefits, affordable health, dental and vision insurance and a PTO (Paid Time Off) package with the ability to carry unused PTO into future years. 

WORK HOURS AND SCHEDULE:  Position works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with half-hour unpaid lunch.
