Research Analyst & Fact Verification Specialist (Executive Communications)

Every Word the CEO Speaks Starts With You

One unverified statistic in an investor presentation. One misattributed quote in a keynote speech. That's all it takes to damage years of credibility.

We're looking for a meticulous truth-seeker to join Bentley's CEO communications team—someone who gets a genuine thrill from tracking down the perfect source, who notices immediately when numbers don't add up, and who takes pride in knowing that nothing leaves this office without rock-solid evidence behind it.

This isn't just fact-checking. You'll build the infrastructure of trust that makes bold leadership possible. Every statement, every claim, every data point that represents our CEO to the world—investors, media, employees, the public—will pass through your hands first. If you're the person who always has your T's crossed and I's dotted, and you want to learn how high-stakes communications really work, this role will develop you in ways few entry-level positions can.

What You'll Do

Be the Guardian of Truth

You'll scrutinize every CEO communication before it goes public—from earnings presentations to LinkedIn posts, keynote speeches to op-eds. When the CEO says "we grew by 30%," you're the one who verified that number against official reports. When a speech references an industry ranking, you've already confirmed the source and saved the documentation. Nothing goes out unless it's accurate, fully sourced, and logged in our audit trail. Your work ensures our leadership speaks with unshakeable credibility.

In practice, this means:

Building and maintaining a verification system for every fact, figure, and citation across all CEO communications

Treating each public statement as an auditable item that can be traced back to its evidence

Checking statistical claims, dates, names, and quotes with precision—if it's in a speech, you've confirmed it

Become Our Intelligence Engine

You'll conduct rapid-turnaround research to back up key messages and answer questions as content develops. Need recent AI adoption statistics? Want background on infrastructure policy? Looking for examples to reinforce a narrative point? You'll find it, synthesize it, and deliver it in concise briefs that writers and strategists can immediately use.

You'll develop expertise in:

Quick, strategic research across diverse topics relevant to our business

Evaluating source credibility and identifying the most authoritative references

Compiling findings into clear, actionable formats for executive audiences

Build Our Knowledge Arsenal

Over time, you'll create and maintain an organized library of vetted data—with citations—on recurring topics. You'll become the go-to person when someone asks "do we have a source for that?" This isn't busywork; you're building institutional knowledge that makes the entire team faster and sharper.

Partner Across the Communications Ecosystem

You'll work closely with speechwriters, content strategists, and our graphic designer to proactively flag unsupported assertions or potential inaccuracies before they become problems. When something doesn't sound right, you'll raise the question and dig in to find the truth. You'll coordinate with subject matter experts—internal and external—to confirm technical details. You're not just checking work; you're a collaborative partner ensuring excellence.

Support the Broader Mission

During high-volume periods or special projects, you'll provide research and fact-checking support to Corporate Communications and Investor Relations teams. Whether verifying facts in a press release or double-checking figures in investor FAQs, you'll help maintain a consistent standard of accuracy across all CEO-adjacent communications.

Who Thrives in This Role

You're Obsessive About Details (And Proud of It)

You have a meticulous eye for accuracy that borders on compulsive. You take genuine pride in catching errors others miss—even minor inconsistencies in data. You double- and triple-check facts and never assume information is correct without evidence. For you, "close enough" isn't in your vocabulary.

You're a Natural Investigator

You're proficient with online research tools, databases, and search techniques. You know how to quickly find information and how to evaluate whether a source is credible. You can distill large amounts of information into the key points that matter. Familiarity with academic journals, industry reports, and public datasets is a plus, but what matters most is your instinct to dig deeper.

You're Comfortable With Data

You're adept at working with figures and basic data analysis. You can use Excel to validate data (recalculating percentages, verifying totals) and you notice when numbers don't add up. If you have experience with Python scripting or data tools—even basic skills like running a script to aggregate information or check consistency—that's valuable but not required.

You Communicate With Clarity

You can clearly document your findings and explain the rationale behind corrections. You write succinct research summaries and source annotations that others can easily understand and use. You're comfortable presenting information both in writing and verbally.

You're Relentlessly Curious

When confronted with a claim, your first instinct is to find out why it's true—or if it's really true. You don't shy away from asking questions or tracking down obscure references. You're self-directed in managing your tasks and take initiative to improve systems and build knowledge.

You Thrive Under Pressure and Handle Sensitive Information With Integrity

You can handle multiple requests simultaneously and remain calm and methodical even when last-minute changes come in. You're comfortable switching gears to help different teams when needed, and you take pride in being a reliable resource. You understand the sensitive nature of executive communications and handle information with absolute professionalism and discretion.

Your Background

We're looking for candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Library Science, or a related field—but we prioritize demonstrated ability over credentials. If you have 0-2 years of experience in research, writing, or fact-checking roles, or research-intensive internships or academic research experience, we want to hear from you. What matters most is your capability, curiosity, and commitment to accuracy.

What You'll Gain

Executive Exposure
Direct insight into how C-suite communications are crafted, how strategic messages are developed, and how leadership positions are communicated to the world.

Skill Development
You'll master research methodology, fact-verification systems, data validation, and communications infrastructure—skills that are valuable across industries and career paths.

Reputation Building
Build your professional brand as someone who can be trusted with high-stakes accuracy. This reputation will serve you throughout your career.

Meaningful Impact
Your work directly shapes how our CEO—and by extension, our entire organization—is perceived by investors, media, employees, and the public. The trust you help build has real business impact.
