IT Help Desk Technician (Permanent Intermittent)

Interested in launching your career in Information Technology? The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety is seeking two (2) IT Help Desk Technicians based in Sacramento to perform routine support tasks, including:

  • Follow well-defined procedures for the IT Operations Unit’s services
  • Provide on-site IT and audio/visual support for meetings 
  • Resolve client incidents and requests for Tier 1 help desk
  • Troubleshoot routine issues
  • Maintain IT equipment, and other related activities

 

Desirable qualifications:

  • Customer Service Skills: Ability to provide technical support to non-technical staff with patience and clarity
  • Troubleshooting Expertise: Proven experience diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with specific operating systems (Windows 11, macOS), mobile device management, and Microsoft 365.
  • Industry Certifications: Possession of entry-level certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Fundamentals
  • Adaptability: Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced environments with changing priorities
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for documenting tickets and explaining technical solutions
  • WordPress Skills: Skills should include the ability to create and edit posts, manage media libraries, and navigate the Gutenberg block editor to update website content without altering underlying code

Required Qualifications: 

  • Pattern I: Six months of general information technology experience performing technical or support tasks for computer systems or services in any of the six domains or emerging information technology fields; OR 
  • Pattern II:15 semester units (or 22.5 quarter units) from an accredited college or university including at least 6 semester units (or 9 quarter units) of information technology or closely related course work; OR
  • Pattern III: Any equivalent combination of experience and education. When using education to meet minimum qualifications, education must include the specified information technology or closely related course work.
