Architectural and Engineering Student Assistant

Architectural and engineering interns working for OGS will be involved in the management and execution of Construction projects through the portfolio of projects managed by the Division of Design and Construction. These projects may range in size from $100,000 to $100 Million and encompass all trades of construction. The student assistant will work with field staff to support construction inspection efforts, assist with project control and contribute to collecting field data to address design issues and field conditions.

We deliver high quality, cost effective, and timely capital projects for our clients in which we set the standard in Design and Construction Services while building the foundation of New York.

  • Support NYS Office of General Services, Design & Construction, Division of Environmental Programs in the implementation of Executive Order 22, Decarbonization and Climate Resilience Design Guide, and other related sustainability laws and policies.
  • Review and track responses for D&C’s Sustainability Compliance Form
  • Support the Construction Waste Management (CWM) program by reviewing CWM Plans and monthly reporting forms, inputting waste data into D&C’s database, and analyze and report significant findings.
  • Support the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) program by reviewing EPD submittals and monthly reporting forms, inputting EPD data into D&C’s database, and analyze/report significant findings.
  • Analyze and report out on sustainable design feature project data.
  • Perform cost comparisons for sustainable swaps on projects, such as Buy Clean Concrete vs. typical Portland cement concrete, double pane windows vs. triple pane windows, etc.
  • Review and propose changes to D&C MasterSpecs with an environmental, sustainability, or resiliency focus.
  • Utilize GIS mapping for environmental, sustainable, or resilient aspects of projects.
  • Work Hours: 7:00AM to 3:30PM, Monday - Friday
