Elementary Classroom Teacher (K–5)

Duties and Responsibilities
Commit to ongoing professional development in the spirit of continuous improvement.
Develop rigorous and appropriate curriculum maps, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments in collaboration with school leadership and curricular resources used at VACS.
Provide instruction in core elementary subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Collaborate with school leaders to analyze student assessment data and use results to inform instruction.
Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to analyze student work, share best practices, and ensure mastery of standards.
Foster family engagement by building relationships and maintaining regular communication with parents and guardians.
Establish strong classroom routines and a positive learning environment that supports student growth and engagement.
Demonstrate genuine interest, belief, and care for students’ personal and academic success.
Education, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor’s degree required, with a record of personal, professional, or academic achievement.
Teacher certification (Elementary Education) – completed or in process.
Commitment to and experience working with students from diverse communities.
Determination to drive student achievement and maintain high expectations for all learners.
Strong instructional skills in foundational literacy, numeracy, and elementary instruction.
Experience using data to guide instruction and improve student outcomes.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting Base Salary:
$66,000, competitive and commensurate with experience.
Hard-to-Fill Positions Stipend:
Additional $2,000 for positions in Math, Science, SPED, and Tech.
Continued Education Incentives
$4,000 additional pay for obtaining a Master’s Degree in a related field.
$2,000 additional pay for Bachelor’s Degree + 15 Graduate Credit Hours.
$2,000 additional pay for Master’s Degree + 30 Graduate Credit Hours.
$3,000 annually for continuing education.
Longevity Pay:
$1,200 for every three years of service.
Performance-Based Bonuses:
Up to $7,500 to reward teaching excellence.
Health Care Benefits:
School-sponsored plan covering 100% of the premium for the entire family.
Retirement Plan:
403(b) with 5% school matching.
Extracurricular Stipends:
Additional stipends for sponsoring after-school clubs and enrichment programs.
Summer and Special Programs Stipend:
Additional stipends for working in Summer School, Extended School Year (ESY), and Saturday School programs.
