Training/Capacity Building Specialist

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

CAI’s Trauma Informed Care (TIC) Initiatives use an implementation science approach to integrate TIC into an agency’s culture, environment, and service delivery. CAI’s TIC team works in a variety of settings that are key in bolstering equitable health outcomes, including HIV primary care and support services, harm reduction, and mental/behavioral health. The Training/Capacity Building Specialist engages in these fields through conducting organization-specific training and tailored ongoing assistance. The Training/Capacity Building Specialist works on one or more of CAI’s statewide and national Trauma Informed Care Initiatives.

 

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):

  • Deliver CAI’s TIC training and courses.
  • Conduct ongoing capacity building to support the integration of trauma-informed care into agencies’ culture, environment, and service delivery.
  • Stay abreast of current literature and research related to HIV, trauma, trauma-informed care, substance use disorders, and overdose prevention.
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies and best practices to inform TA activities, training curricula, training materials, and other resources.
  • Maintain accurate and current records of all technical and training activities.
  • Regular travel to sites in New York and New Jersey (may be required)
  • Other duties as necessary/assigned 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred (Public Health, MPH, MPA, MHA; Mental Health LMH, LRC, MSW, LMSW, LCSW; or Nursing; RN, MSN) or equivalent educational and/or lived experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of capacity-building experience within public health settings.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in delivering training for adults.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret and use real-time data to support process improvement.
  • Excellent documentation skills and ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable steps/plans.
  • A demonstrated commitment to social justice, health equity, and diversity.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.

While performing the Training/Capacity Building Specialist’s responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear. This position requires the employee to be on-site at a CAI office. The employee is often required to sit and work at a desk for prolonged periods of time and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
