Mechanical Design Engineering Intern (AutoDesk Inventor)
Position Summary
The Engineering Intern will support the Special Projects Engineer in the design, modeling, and development of innovative engineering solutions used in refractory systems and industrial furnace environments. This internship provides hands-on exposure to real-world engineering projects, including mechanical design, equipment modeling, and prototype development.
The intern will primarily utilize AutoDesk Inventor to assist in creating and modifying 3D models, engineering drawings, and design documentation that support new product development, process improvements, and specialized engineering initiatives.
This role is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field who is interested in gaining practical engineering experience in a manufacturing and industrial environment.

- Develop and modify 3D models and assemblies using AutoDesk Inventor
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, design files, and documentation
- Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies
- Support engineering projects related to product development, process improvement, and equipment design
- Work with the Special Projects Engineer to evaluate design concepts and engineering solutions
- Assist in prototype development and design testing
- Maintain organized engineering documentation and revision control
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to support project objectives
- Assist with data collection, technical analysis, and design validation
- Participate in engineering reviews and brainstorming sessions for new concepts
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
- Experience using AutoDesk Inventor (coursework or project experience acceptable)
- Basic understanding of 3D modeling and mechanical design principles
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD modeling or design projects
- Exposure to manufacturing or industrial engineering environments
- Familiarity with mechanical systems, fabrication, or equipment design
