Position Overview
MedZu Inc. is a specialized biotech leader focused on tick-borne disease prevention and diagnostic excellence. We provide rapid, high-accuracy tick testing and surveillance services to help individuals and communities stay safe from Lyme and other emerging pathogens. Join us in our mission to turn complex laboratory data into actionable public health solutions. MedZu’s TickReport laboratory processes over 20,000 tick and arthropod samples annually for pathogen detection using molecular diagnostic methods.
We are hiring a Laboratory Technician II (LT-II) to support our core laboratory workflow stations, which includes:
- DNA/RNA extraction
- qPCR analysis
- Sample accessioning/in-processing (as needed)
This position is ideal for recent graduates in biology or related life sciences seeking hands-on experience in a high-throughput laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform DNA/RNA extraction of tick samples according to established SOPs
- Conduct molecular diagnostics, including qPCR and related assays
- Maintain rigorous quality control and documentation
- Coordinate with sample accessioning staff to ensure efficient workflow
- Assist with data entry and reporting of test results
- Support maintenance and curation of laboratory databases
- Participate in laboratory maintenance and organization
- Anticipate laboratory supply needs and assist with ordering
- Maintain compliance with QA/QC protocols
Qualifications
Required
- Associate’s degree in Biology or related life science field
- At least one year of laboratory experience
- Experience with DNA/RNA extraction and/or PCR analysis
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Familiarity with spreadsheets or laboratory database systems
Preferred
- Experience working with high-volume sample processing
- Hands-on experience with qPCR workflows
- Experience documenting laboratory workflows and quality control
Candidates are encouraged to describe the type and volume of samples they have processed in previous laboratory roles.
