This role blends youth mentorship, community impact work, and creative media within a mission-driven nonprofit environment.
The House of Darla (HOD) is a you(th)™-centered nonprofit dedicated to empowering young people through hands-on life and soft-skills mentorship, education, the arts, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, wellness programming, and community outreach.
Through programs, workshops, and creative initiatives, HOD provides opportunities for youth and students to develop leadership, confidence, and real-world skills while exploring their passions and contributing positively to their communities.
The HOD serves as a collaborative space where mentors, creatives, professionals, and youth leaders come together to support growth, creativity, and community impact.
Position Overview
The Youth Programs & Community Impact Intern will support youth cohorts, workshops, wellness activities, and creative initiatives that help young people build confidence, leadership skills, and meaningful life experiences.
Interns will work alongside mentors, educators, creatives, and youth leaders while gaining hands-on experience supporting nonprofit programming and community initiatives.
This role is ideal for students interested in youth development, mentorship, wellness, the arts, entrepreneurship, creative media, education, or nonprofit leadership.
Responsibilities
Intern responsibilities may include:
• Assisting with youth cohorts, workshops, and leadership development activities
• Supporting small group mentorship and participant engagement
• Assisting with program preparation, materials, and coordination
• Supporting wellness and recreation activities such as sports, fitness, or outdoor programming
• Assisting with attendance tracking and participant records
• Helping track program participation and basic program metrics
• Supporting youth participating in career readiness and credential-based learning opportunities
• Contributing to creative projects such as storytelling, photography, media, or social media
• Assisting with community outreach, partnership research, or program events
• Supporting program documentation and storytelling efforts
Skills & Qualifications

Preferred qualities include:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Interest in youth mentorship, leadership development, or community programming
• Creativity and willingness to contribute ideas and initiative
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Organizational skills and attention to detail
• Basic computer skills (Google Docs, spreadsheets, etc.)
• Familiarity with Canva, social media, or basic media tools is a plus
Minimum Requirements
• Currently enrolled college or university student, graduate student, recent graduate, or individual interested in gaining experience in youth development, nonprofit leadership, community programming, or creative initiatives
• Interest in youth development, mentorship, education, or community engagement
• Ability to take initiative and support projects and activities
• Willingness to assist with workshops, events, and youth programming
• Must be 18 years or older
Background screening may be required for individuals working directly with youth.
