Behavior Technician (BT) – Entry Level

Position Summary

The Behavior Technician (BT) works directly with children diagnosed with autism, down syndrome, and related developmental disorders to implement individualized ABA treatment plans under the supervision of a BCBA. This position is ideal for students pursuing careers in psychology, education, social work, counseling, nursing, speech therapy, or related fields.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 ABA therapy in home, school, or community settings

Implement behavior intervention and skill acquisition programs designed by a BCBA

Collect accurate session data using electronic data systems

Assist with teaching communication, social, play, and daily living skills

Follow behavior intervention plans to support reduction of challenging behaviors

Maintain professionalism and communicate regularly with supervisors and caregivers

Complete session notes and documentation within required timelines

Qualifications

High school diploma required; college coursework in psychology, education, or related field preferred

Interest in working with children with autism and developmental disabilities

Strong communication, patience, and organizational skills

Reliable transportation required

Ability to pass CORI/SORI background checks

RBT certification preferred (training available for qualified candidates)
