The Nashua Community Music School is looking to contract a part time, Group Music Class Teacher for an average of 2-3 classes per week starting in April and extending through the summer.
This teaching position is the perfect compliment to a full time job or for someone looking for an extra gig that gives you the excuse to sing and dance around with adorable kiddos once or twice a week!
Qualifications
The ideal applicant must:
- Have a genuine passion for teaching students of all ages and abilities
- Believe that high quality music experiences should be accessible to all
- Feel comfortable leading a singing-focused group class for children age 2 - 10
- Have an understanding of diverse populations and be comfortable working in a Title I school environment
- Balance excellent classroom management skills with the ability to deliver curriculum in a fun and inspiring way
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music (experience will be considered in lieu of degree)
- Have a car and reliable transportation to each classroom site
- Be willing to attend paid training sessions if needed
All Group Classes require travel to local schools and organizations within Nashua as part of our Music Outreach Program. The classes may be filled by one or more different teachers:
- Musical Playgroup: Lead a 30 minute live music making program with parents and young children under 5 (Morning availability required)
- Musical Discovery Project: Design and lead 45 minute after school group music enrichment classes for Grades 1-3 at Nashua elementary schools. (Afternoon Availability required, Tuesdays preferred)
These classes can extend through the summer with a shift to a summer schedule in June. We encourage candidates to apply who are available for the school year only, summer only, or all of the above. Paid training is provided.
Desired Start Date: March 2026
Pay: $50 per class
About NCMS: The mission of the nonprofit Nashua Community Music School is to create innovative music programs that are accessible to all. NCMS offers music education opportunities for all ages including: private music lessons, group classes, ensembles, Music Therapy, Music Outreach Programs, and summer camps. We appreciate teachers who create meaningful connections with our students while supporting our efforts as a nonprofit community service-based organization.
