Position Summary:
Saint Andrew’s School promotes an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. Our faculty is deeply committed to developing students in mind, body and spirit, and are responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success. We seek dynamic individuals who are collaborative and innovative in their approach to teaching and who work to create an inclusive and supportive classroom and school-wide culture. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching the Middle Years Programme (MYP). This position will entail teaching five sections of multiple levels of Spanish, leading a Middle School advisory class, and carrying out supervisory duties according to the needs of the division. The teacher will join a department committed to professional collaboration and the support of school-wide equity and justice goals through the curriculum offered in world language courses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences that promote student growth and academic achievement.
- Plans, evaluates and revises curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
- Maintains effective and efficient record-keeping procedures.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
- Collaborates with peers to enhance curriculum and instruction.
- Uses effective class management techniques to ensure effective learning.
- Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and coordinating activities and plans.
- Maintains expertise in subject matter through professional development.
- Stays current with technology advances and incorporates technology in the classroom.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Prior experience teaching in a Middle School
- Experience with MYP preferred
- Experience teaching Spanish, with proficiency in different languages preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and parents
- Possess an understanding of technology to facilitate teaching, grades, and communication
- Possess collegiality and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive school culture
- Commitment to a growth mindset and continuous professional development
Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and for the majority of the work day. May be required to lift up to 25lbs.
