Peer Career Advisor

Position Title: Career Services Peer Career Advisor

Semester/Year: 2026 Spring Semester

Total Positions Available: 3

Supervisor: Chuck Maloy

Pay rate: $16 per hour 

Start Date: March 23, 2026

End Date: May 3, 2027

 

Peer Career Advisors (PCA's) function as para-professional support staff in the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education. The PCA commitment involves approximately 5 hours of work weekly, participation in the recruitment and selection of the following year's CA staff, a willingness to work with peers in a fast-paced environment, being flexible and willing to adapt to change, and an interest in having fun while working with others.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with resume development, cover letter writing and LinkedIn Profile development
  • Assist students in utilizing office resources for job or internship search, including Handshake and the Career Network
  • Facilitate resume and cover letter workshops each semester
  • Assist professional staff with projects when not meeting with students
  • May be asked to help answer phones when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications 

  • Must be in the graduating classes of 2027, 2028 or 2029
  • Strong oral communication and written skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexible and patient
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Previous active engagement with Career Services is strongly preferred
  • Priority will go students with Federal Work Study
