POWER ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING INTERN

Responsibilities:

The Electrical Engineering (Power Electronics) intern supports the electrical engineering team in the simulation, design, and verification of Power Electronics circuits (DC-DC, AC-DC, and DC-AC converters), and analog hardware. 

 

  • Designing: Participate in the creation of schematics, printed circuit boards, and documentation for new products
  • Testing: Use Oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and other lab equipment to validate power electronics systems
  • Simulation/Tools:  Use Altium, LTSpice/MATLAB, etc for circuit design and simulation. 
  • Component Selection:   Identify and specify components for Power Electronics in order to meet the cost, functionality and reliability requirements of ongoing programs. Find alternate parts of the existing circuits when parts are obsolete
  • Researching: Explore innovative technologies that could be applied to the company's product lines. 
  • Cross Functional Support: Work with mechanical, software, and production teams to ensure that products meet functional and manufacturability requirements.
  • Documenting: Help develop and document standard procedures. Also help to document technical design details.
  • Analysis:  Gather and analyze electrical test data to ensure compliance with product and circuit requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a similar field at an accredited college or university
  • Have an interest in renewable energy or power electronics
  • Must be able to relocate to the office location in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and work 40 hrs./week for the full duration of the internship/co-op
  • 3.0/4.0 GPA is a minimum requirement.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical, technical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Relevant Coursework includes
    • 3 phase Power Systems
    • Embedded Processors / Microcontrollers
    • AC/DC, DC/DC switching power supplies
    • Analog Electronics

Physical and Sensory Demands 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is primarily sitting, with occasional walking and standing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Noise volume can be loud in our Production area.
