Operations Intern

What You'll Do

This opportunity will have a unique opportunity for exposure to ready mixed concrete production, gain knowledge about specifications, parameters of maximum plant production capacity to meet customer needs.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Collaborate and interact with Dispatch to develop an awareness of Ready-Mix logistics, including the shipping / loading of orders and changes as required.

Collaborate with Operations to gain understanding and knowledge of raw materials such as cement, fly ash, chemical admixtures, and aggregates and ordering requirements.

Gain knowledge and understanding regarding adequate and cost-effective inventory levels of all products.

Collaborate with quality control team for a better understanding regarding various quality control functions, such as moisture checks, slump tests, air entrainment tests and temperature tests that are aligned with and meet company standards.

Understand and perform end of day cleanup at batch plant.

Perform various plant maintenance tasks such as greasing, adjustments, cleaning bag houses and venting systems, shoveling and plant system checks.

Assist in maintenance of computerized batching equipment, material handling and color computers and other misc. maintenance as required.

Maintain effective working relationships with company employees, suppliers, and customers. Promote and maintain the professional image and reputation of the company ensuring timely problem resolution and customer satisfaction.

Ability to travel to remote locations as needed.

Qualifications: Education and Experience:

Must be 18 years of age.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must be currently enrolled and attending a post-secondary college or trade school.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Good verbal and written communication skills; must be able to read, write and speak English.
