Position Overview

  • The Elementary GAP Teacher supports students in grades K–6 who require additional academic support through Dayspring’s GAP, General Accommodations Program, services.
  • Provides targeted intervention, small-group instruction, and academic support.
  • Develops and implements Accommodation Plans and Individualized Service Plans tailored to elementary students.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers, specialists, and local district special education teams.
  • Supports students with a variety of learning needs, academic gaps, and developmental differences.
  • Works closely with elementary staff, families, and support personnel to help students reach their academic potential.
  • Integrates biblical principles into instruction and student support.

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Special Education degree or endorsement preferred, but not required.
  • ACSI Teacher Certification required, must hold or be willing to obtain certification.
  • State teaching certification preferred, but optional.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Colorado elementary content standards.
  • Knowledge of current special education practices, intervention strategies, and elementary pedagogy.

Spiritual Responsibilities

  • Affirm personal faith as a born-again Christian with a testimony of salvation through Jesus Christ, John 3:3, 1 Peter 1:23.
  • Exhibit a sense of calling to serve at Dayspring Christian Academy for the contracted school year, Romans 12:6–8.
  • Model Christian virtues and personal integrity, serving as a role model within and outside the school community, Luke 6:40, Colossians 3:17, Titus 2:7–8.
  • Participate faithfully in a local church aligned with the school’s Statement of Faith.

Student Support and Instruction

  • Oversee an assigned caseload of students receiving GAP services, meetings, testing, data monitoring, and intervention groups.
  • Teach elementary reading, math, and other intervention groups as assigned.
  • Develop and implement Accommodation Plans and Individualized Service Plans that address developmental and academic needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and District 6 Special Education teams to create and implement Individualized Service Plans.
  • Assess students’ abilities and adapt learning materials to meet individual learning needs.
  • Design lesson plans that support the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Utilize differentiated instruction strategies, hands-on learning, and varied teaching methods to support diverse learning styles.
  • Implement intervention strategies and instructional supports for students with a wide range of academic abilities and developmental levels.

Monitoring and Communication

  • Monitor, document, and reflect on student progress and growth.
  • Maintain organized and accurate student records and documentation.
  • Use student-level data to guide instructional decisions and measure student outcomes.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and administration regarding student progress or concerns.
  • Inform parents about student performance and potential challenges.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Program Leadership

  • Provide guidance and support to classroom teachers in implementing accommodations and modifications.
  • Coach or mentor paraprofessionals and support staff working with elementary students.
  • Oversee GAP paraprofessionals and coordinate support services.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with students, families, teachers, and support staff.

School and Community Engagement

  • Integrate biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout instruction and interactions.
  • Maintain effective classroom management and a safe, nurturing learning environment.
  • Collaborate with staff to analyze student data and support student success.
  • Attend scheduled in-services, retreats, team meetings, and parent conferences.
  • Support school programs, events, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle when resolving conflict.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by administration.
